Chester sits at the southern end of our range, and it is one of the more mixed areas we work. Post-war ranches, 1980s and 90s subdivisions, and newer construction along the Route 10 and Iron Bridge corridors, often within a few blocks of each other.

What Chester properties usually need
The common thread here is concrete. Lots in Chester tend to be generous, which means long driveways, wide aprons, detached garages and more walkway than a comparable address closer to the city. On most Chester jobs the driveway is the reason for the call and the house wash is the add-on, which is the reverse of what we see in Henrico.
The second pattern is Piedmont clay. Iron in the soil bleeds orange onto concrete wherever runoff crosses it โ beside beds, below downspouts, along the low edge of a sloped drive. Pressure will not lift it. It needs a rust-specific treatment, and it will return if the drainage that causes it has not changed.
Older ranches and newer builds on the same street
Chester’s housing stock spans about seventy years, and the right method changes with it. Post-war ranches often have painted wood or aluminum siding, both of which want low pressure and a careful eye on paint condition and oxidation. The newer builds along Iron Bridge and Rivers Bend are vinyl and brick veneer, which are considerably more forgiving.
It is worth mentioning what you have when you call, because the quote and the approach are genuinely different โ and because an aluminum-sided ranch quoted as if it were new vinyl is a job someone is about to do badly.

Where Chester, Virginia actually is
Worth saying plainly, because the name is not unique: this is Chester in Chesterfield County, Virginia โ the community along Route 1 between Richmond and Petersburg, ZIP 23831 and 23836, next to Rivers Bend, Enon and the Meadowville corridor. It is about twenty minutes south of downtown Richmond.
It is not Winchester in the Shenandoah Valley, which is a different city a hundred and thirty miles north-west, and it is not Chesterfield Courthouse, which is a separate place fifteen minutes west. If you are in Chester, Chesterfield County, you are inside the normal service area and so is everything around it โ Rivers Bend, Enon, Bermuda Hundred, Harrowgate and the Route 10 corridor out to the interstate.
Residential and commercial pressure washing in Chester
Residential work here is mostly concrete and siding: driveways, walks, patios and pool surrounds, house washing, and roof treatment on the north faces. It is priced per surface and normally done in one visit, and on the longer Route 10 lots the driveway is often the biggest line on the quote โ which is why it is measured by area rather than guessed.
Commercial along Route 1, Route 10 and the Meadowville industrial corridor runs on a different schedule: loading aprons, dumpster pads, sidewalks, storefronts and entry canopies, washed outside operating hours, photographed for the file, and invoiced across sites where somebody manages more than one. More on the commercial pressure washing page.
Pressure washing, power washing, soft washing
Power washing means heated water; pressure cleaning is another name for the same job. Soft washing is the one that is genuinely different โ garden-hose pressure with a cleaning solution doing the work instead of force.
That distinction decides what happens at your house. Aluminium and vinyl siding want soft washing; pressure dents the former and drives water up under the laps of the latter. Roofs want no pressure at all. Concrete, brick and pavers do want pressure, delivered through a surface cleaner rather than a wand, which is the difference between an even finish and a driveway striped like a barcode. Common questions about pressure washing in Chester
Do you cover Chester and the Route 10 corridor?
Yes, regularly, including Rivers Bend, Iron Bridge and the older sections closer to the village.
Why is my driveway staining orange?
Iron in the Piedmont clay, carried onto the slab by runoff. It needs a rust treatment rather than pressure, and it returns unless the drainage causing it changes. We will show you where it is coming from.
My house has aluminum siding. Can you wash it?
Yes, at low pressure. Older aluminum often has oxidation, which is chalky faded pigment rather than dirt โ washing removes what is on top of it but does not reverse the fade. We will tell you what to expect before starting.
I have a very long driveway. How is it priced?
By area, so you pay for what we clean. We measure and give you a fixed number rather than a per-hour guess.
Can you do the detached garage and shed too?
Yes, and much cheaper on the same visit than as a separate call.
How often should a Chester driveway be cleaned?
Annually if it is shaded, every other year if it gets real sun. Clay staining is worth catching early either way.
